Thanks for more of that impressive Montana scenery and a bit of clear blue western skies! Small wonder nobody hung around the lake and you had all the campsites to yourself with that bugginess. Beer at the trailhead is a powerful motivator after all those insects. I'm 4 weeks out from my jump date to start road tripping to Colorado for the Fall. I'm at the point when doubt sets in and I start asking myself if I really want to commit to another 4-day, 1,200 mile road trip (one way!). And then I watch a video like this and decide "yep" gonna do it. Thanks for the inspiration! The music overlays really fit the segments they're paired with.

Little Ibex was the worst. We spent 15 minutes there, one of the most spectacular lakes in the Cabinets. I didn't even take any good pics of the lake. It was so overwhelming with bugs. So I feel you! Many years ago, when my older brother and I were in our twenties, and dad was healthy and could hike like a billy goat, the three of us hiked into and back out of Ryder and McPheters Lake. In one day. We started hiking after 4:30 in the morning with our flashlights, and after the miles and hours passed, we arrived at Ryder Lake. We fished, caught lots of fish between the two lakes and some smaller lakes. It was dark when we finally reached the trailhead and truck. Exhausted but so thankful for this amazing experience. I haven’t been back since and seriously doubt my knees would cooperate now that I’m much older, but my thoughts frequently relive that amazing day and I’m glad I got to visit this spectacular area of the Uinta’s. Miss you pops.

Wow! That would be a serious day of hiking! That place is worth it though! Thanks for sharing that memory with me.

I'm glad Timber was ok. You always provide great overviews of the area you are hiking in. The river looked impressive but not too deep and the flowers in bloom were a nice addition. Thanks for sharing Travis!

Crazy, there is a Clearwater River in the Olympics as well. Both have a name that describes it all. Good choice to go giddy over grind.
